Ideas for how to store processed bird in Fridge before freezing

Great ideas, I'll probably be passing each of these along to people taking my birds depending on their situations.

How about if I buy a new, 33 gallon plastic garbage can, fill it with ice water, keep ice in it, rest the birds in it? It's highs of 60's, lows of 40's here right now. Stored outside, if I kept it iced, would that work? is it okay to have them submerged for a few days?

If you can keep them cold, a bucket of ice water would work fine.

Some people brine their birds. If you wanted to do that, just add a bit of salt to the ice bath.

Some people soak the birds in water, so you would just put them into the ice water.

I don't like to soak my birds. I think it soaks the flavor out, so I bag them. If you bag them in something airtight, they could go into the water that way and would be both cold and dry You might have to weight them down if you didn't get enough air out of the bag.

Just a thought. I wouldn't leave a bucket full of birds outdoors. Some stray dog is likely to find himself a real feast. Maybe keep the bucket of ice water and birds inside the garage?
