ideas for nest boxes

thanks i like the one on the floor thanks
we got it off ebay, a great seller hand made. and its huge. my pullets will be laying soon so I hope they take up residency. we have another coming to set beside it. he made it special, 15x15x15 inches...

Here are a few suggestions.

5 gallon buckets
old kitchen cabinets (already divided for you)
square plastic milk crates
small dog carriers and houses
just about anything a hen can fit in, they will lay in, if soft material like hay or grass is in there.
Buying pre-made nestboxes retail is a waste of money, unless you are looking for something pretty for your own eyes to look at.

for me, buying the pre made ones was for beauty LOL, oh and my broody takes up the whole box, she refuses to let any chicken in and they all want the same box. tends to be a big fight. so I ordered these in case she goes broody again and the pullets and other big girls have a nice place to lay there eggs, or mama wants to nest on the floor. she goes broody several times a year. I could have used anything as you say, but I opted to have these as I loved the look. :)
