found this guy/girl in my chicken yard this morning. Not good with snakes. Any idea what kind? I have managed to catch it and put it in a big bucket for my husband to deal with later. It's small, I looked for more or a nest or egg shells but didn't find any. Just wondering what I had in there.

X2 corn snake. They are generally pretty calm. I'd haul it far away your coop and drop it off.
Thank you. I know nothing about this type, just bull snakes and rat snakes which here would be brown or black. This just freaked me out this morning.

It's a baby corn or rat snake. Just take it to a field, woods or park and let it go.

Thanks geena. I'm a snake dunce so I wasn't sure. We have a huge cattle field next door, prob came out of there. My husband will let him go.

Yeah we got the same rat snakes. Here they are normally black, with red all over when I see it.

We have similar rat snakes here. This is a rat snake outside my garage door. I have other pictures somewhere of more with the marking a bit different.

Rat snake. Let it go, it will eat pesky mice, but I promise it won’t hurt your chickens. 🐍
