Identifying Bumble Foot

Hello! This is my first year with backyard chickens and I would like some help identifying if this is a bumble foot. Picture below. If it is bumble foot would greatly appreciate advice on how to treat it! TIA

Yes, definitely bumblefoot. Soak it in warm epsom salt water for 15-20 minutes. After it's softened up you'll want to try and pull that whole thing out of there, probably with a knife. After you get it out, wash her foot then fill up the whole with a disinfectant cream. Neosporin is good. Wrap her foot up when you after you've cleaned it off and you're good to go! You'll want to change the bandage everyday and re-apply the ointment until the wound is all healed up. Good luck!

just a question, in case i need in the future to deal with this. How does one carry out the treatment in a manner that the chicken stays calm? I wish to incur as few injuries all round as possible.

Wrapping the chicken up in a towel will help to keep them calmer and it'll make your job easier as they can't beat their wings.

You can also try to creat a Chicken First Aid Kit for it in the future with multiple different antibiotics and tools. You can find a lot of good videos on how to make one and what to put in it on YouTube as well..
