Identity Crisis: Am I an Easter Egger?

You could think of Easter Eggers as the poor persons ameraucana, personally I LOVE my EE’s, I like picking out ee’s At the store and waiting to see what color they turn out to be!
We love ours too! We got one EE and one "Americauna" and they turned out so different looking we thought they could definitely be two different breeds (makes sense if EE's are mutts, though). It's been a joy to watch them grow... New colors at every turn! Our flock wouldn't be the same without 'em and their social yet spirited demeanors. Here's our other EE girl, "Big Darla":

This discussion happens every year with new chicks. To be an Ameraucana (that is the only correct spelling) they have to be an accepted color and meet the standard for the breed. Most birds sold that don't come from breeders are EE's. Absolutely nothing wrong with EE's, I have some and love them. It really only matters if you are going to show or breed. EE's are mixed breeds that often have the blue egg gene, but not always. Some EE's will lay brown eggs. Mine are all blue, but I know it happens. These links will help with the confusion hopefully, first is common questions, second is pictures of the accepted colors for Ameraucana's.

That's really helpful, thanks! Ameraucanas sure are cool looking, and so are EEs. I don't plan to show her, she's for cuddles and eggs:)
