This discussion happens every year with new chicks. To be an Ameraucana (that is the only correct spelling) they have to be an accepted color and meet the standard for the breed. Most birds sold that don't come from breeders are EE's. Absolutely nothing wrong with EE's, I have some and love them. It really only matters if you are going to show or breed. EE's are mixed breeds that often have the blue egg gene, but not always. Some EE's will lay brown eggs. Mine are all blue, but I know it happens.
