If a dog killed any of my chickens I hope someone would be

I think this was what PC was trying to say when he started this thread.

I don't think anyone was saying that dog owners should be excused for letting there dogs run loose.

I think its more about being proactive to prevent these situations to the best of our abilities. And if you do make a mistake that cost your chickens lives, learn from it so you don't repeat it.

Redhen, if your cat kills your birds, thats your problem.However if your cat kills my hens, then thats a different story. You are responsible for keeping your cat home, and away from my hens.
Sadly, many pet owners are irresposible, and the pets sometimes pays the ultimate price. I mean, how many times does a person who has livestock have to suffer from the irresponsibilty of reckless pet owners...??

ohhhhh, no there wouldn't. You steal my dog, rehome him. That's a state violation and you will be prosecuted. Could end up in jail. Couldn't claim "stray" as you've already turned the dogs into police.

Want to go vigillanty on someone in this neighborhood, enjoy jail. We all get along fine here thank you. We keep our pets home, respect our neighbors, no problems.

Again, we're not talking about the one time event, we're talking about repeated events. One time event, present owner w/bill.

I find it difficult to believe that people on this board have no problem w/theft.........knowingly breaking laws.

Yes there are other options Redhen,like one or two warning at most..After that its a nusence situation, and i for one will not tolerate some jerks dog that keeps killing my hens, bye bye poochy...! What if i had a dog, that kept going to your property and eating your cats, even as you replace them...??!! Are you going to take my dog and move the problem to someone elses neighborhood..? Thats worse than putting the dog down...
