If I was a Zillionaire I would.............

Shannon? I don't know this Shannon you speak of... I'm the Dutchess of Unistandia!

I'd get some land in the mountains here in AZ. Where it's not too cold in the winter and where it's not hotter than hades in the summer.

The land would have to have water and timber I could protect.

I'd try to have solar power and wind power so I could live off of the grid.

And I'd have lots of chicken coops and a huge garden so I could produce lots of produce... and I'd hire gardeners so I could supervise.

And I'd help lots of people and keep a small operatory somewhere near my home so I could still drill and fill from time to time.

Anyhow, after I'd established the fact that I wasn't about to become a victim of fraud, I'd probably give my mother a lot of money - she's doing a lot of odd jobs now like at the supermarket, so there's not much money involved there. I'd do the same for my dad, except he would go crazy without his work.

Then I'd go out and buy a private jet. A zillion dollars is a LOT of money. There'd be plenty left over to give away.

Some study showed that people are happier when they spend their money on experiences rather than possessions. After all, to quote my father, "I've never seen a hearse pulling a u-haul."
So I think if I had unlimited funds, I'd get more degrees than I could count, just for the joy of learning. I'd probably backpack around the world and expose myself to as many cultures I could find. I'd spend time with family and friends and be as generous as possible with them. Eventually, though, I'd pick my favorite place and hide out there in a little cabin, with a whole flock of chickens and a herd of horses.
Luckily I don't.

I'm going to continue to try to accomplish all those things, but I'm going to work for them, so I have the work ethic and the principles to appreciate the experience more.

Dosen't take zillions to set up a small DIY solar operation. I have done it, and so have a few other small farmers along with some people that raise animals. Saves on cash too so hopefully one day i can be a zillionaire!

I think anyone interested in sustainable living should check out DIY solar information. Im happy with my end result. Wind power i have no idea about though...theres lots of guides available on the subject. i know sites like sunpowerreviews dot com review the most popular guides about DIY solar. good luck, cheers!

My boyfriend and I play this game when we buy tickets too

I would find a really great financial planner first and foremost. Then I would quit my job

After that I would likely buy my dream farm - which just happens to be for sale right now... It's 215 acres and is used for corporate events. That would be my new income generating business. I would hire a couple of my very motivated and talented but currently underpaid friends to help run the business. I would also add to the horse facilities for my personal use and to hold shows/clinics. My absolute favorite 3-Day Event used to be held there but they stopped doing that years ago. I would rebuild the cross country horse and bring it back. I would also hold recognized and schooling dressage shows there since that is my discipline. I would buy some FEI prospects and might start a breeding program with standards comparable to those in Europe. I would also give my trainer's VERY talented and wonderful assistant a place of her own to start what promises to be a great career in horses. And I would turn the dairy barn into a HUGE chicken/turkey/duck barn with giant pens and pasture for happy birdies

Spending my days with horses and chickens would make me the happiest person I could possibly be.

I would donate to charity - definitely to my favorite horse rescue and to another great animal rescue in the area. I would probably set up some kind of fund for ongoing charitable giving.

I heard a story about a guy, older, single, no kids, who won a gazillion lottery. Bought a whole floor in the campus dorm, made it his pad, and randomly took whatever classes he found interesting. Traveled when he had the urge. Sounds pretty cool to me.

eta: I couldn't do this! What would I do with my chickens!

Drive up to work, honk the horn for the director to come out and see what the commotion is and then roll down the window and give her my 2 minute notice.
Would love to do it this way, but I couldn't leave without saying bye to the kids.

I'd replace our vehicles, though no hurry to do that just yet.
I'd write a check to cover the remaining cost for the current renovation to the GAS (greyhound adoption service - Salisbury, MA) building as well as write a check to the group doing it (Project Pawsitive) to replace the funds they raised to cover the first portion of renovation/construction.

Call the AC guy while it is cool out to redo the duct work in our house so the master bedroom stays cool.
Have more stone delivered for the driveway.
Call in some landscapers to get some duck/dog friendly landscaping going on in the back yard.
Fund my MILs checking account.
Buy a place down here for my parents and furnish it so they don't have to worry about moving all their stuff back and forth when they head back north for the summer.
Help out my sister.
Travel more with DH - use my parents as pet sitters while they are down here lol
Some new living room furniture.
Put a lap pool in for DH (though I guess this could be linked in with the landscaper)
Spay/Neuter funds
Local helping
