Never owned Roosters before... so please forgive me if there is an Obvious answer to my question.

I have one active laying Hen ( production Red) that I have seen my Araucana breeding with.... I checked her eggs and sure enough BULLS EYE is present.

I have also seen him making his way through the ladies in the group that have yet to lay.... They *should start in 1-2 weeks. If they haven't started laying yet... will their first eggs be fertile?

I am curious because I would love to get some Olive Eggers from this mix- before we have to re home mr. rooster.

Thanks,

Michele

Yes; there is no reason why they wouldn't be as long as the eggs are laid in the next week or so. A week ago I put the first four eggs from a pullet under a broody hen. After candling, three are developing.
