Then don't ask the question! I have seen several threads lately that begin as someone asking for advice, clarification, or information that soon degrade into snide comments and harsh words (funny how you can sense bad attitude thru the computer). This seems to happen most often in the 'Breeds, Genetics, & Showing' forum. I believe this is because people are posting about birds that they intend to breed or show, and this makes them more valuable to their owners (or caretakers as I see it). This makes it hard to swallow when someone else has a different opinion on their birds. Usually, the comments left are honest, but not unkind.

"The Americana roo you have is actually an EE. Lucky you, I love my EE's!"
HOWEVER, I have seen many recent posts where people are beligerent, or simply (and blatantly) disregard info and advice that is shared by others who want to educate and inform fellow chicken lovers.

If you have questions you want to ask your fellow BYCers, be prepared for answers that you may not like or expect.
If you get answers you do not like, say thank you for the info, and do more research.

Momma was right again-if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

honestly, I don't think the quote about the EE was unkind, it was factual. Many people aren't aware of what they have or the quality of what they have. The comments about not being show quality, probably could have been worded better, or directed to a *show* breeder. I don't think everything needs to be sugar coated, that doesn't help in the real world.....
I truly think most things are too PC. I would rather someone be honest then make me think I have something wonderful. I do agree it is nicer if it's worded better, but some people try to help but their answers are curt because they are busy. The point is everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Unless it's blatantly personal, it probably isn't......

I believe people need to remember everyone has different opinions. Dont act like your opinion, is the only way it can be. No matter how right or wrong, you are, some one will not see it your way.

*lol* I also find that some people "have to be right' no matter what the reality of the situation is.

It's not a proper standard color and it doesn't have ear tufts, but it lays a blue egg....so it MUST be an Araucana....*stomping foot*....it IS an Araucauna! The hatchery told me so! Or, it has feathered feet and is mille fleur colored, but it IS a Rosecomb bantam..... *sigh*

You can't help those sorts of people and it's just best to shake your head and pass on to the next thread.

Try not to get caught up in other peoples ignorance, or more appropriately, their determination to remain ignorant. Some people will listen to good advice, and some will not.

One the thing too....you should always do a LOT of research on a topic. Not everyone is correct in their knowledge and the more sources that say the same thing, the more likely it is that the information is correct. Don't take one person's word for it, but if 20 people are all say the same thing then they may be onto something....but don't take my word for it

I just wanted to add that the quotes I used as examples in my original post were just made up off the top of my head, and were based on posts I have seen in the past. They are in no way connected to the recent nasty threads.
