if you have genetic questions

I have a question:

When I look at one of my F1 chicks should I be able to write down all the gene codes and cross reference with parents and I assume a picture starts to form? My problem is when I look at my chick I have a difficult time recording what the codes are. I know he was ER chick down phenotype at birth but now at 8 weeks this color I see now not red? Would that not be e+?
He also has dark legs/feet I struggle with the color sometimes due to being colorblind (but that is more about the coppers and greens and sheens on some birds). Anyone weigh in on this Id be very grateful. I have provided some pics Id like to analyze:

I am new at this. I have 7 others that are of eWh chick down color have not started to decode yet.

Hi

,
That's copper, not salmon. If your chicks had e+ allele in them, you would have probably seen chipmunk stripes of some kind on their backs.
unless the ER totally covered it. But no, I don't see e+ in this chick. Is it a Marans? Looks like a Black Copper Marans with wheaten in it.
Best

Aww good one Karen you pretty much got it. Dad was BCM and mom was a RIRx Ultimately JR here is a mutt but I am attempting to understand and at least predict a little bit my next hatch in terms of genes. His dad was very special to me pretty much the reason I got into chickens in the first place.

Hmm interesting now his siblings are dead opposite they were cream color when hatched so I assume eWh and now some are buff or blonde and some are white buff and red?. Also it seems to me the roosters arent as develped in the feather dept as the females are... I could be wrong but it feels that way. Some are very dark red/brown like the RIR mom except with white and blond. Here is a picture of them at 6 weeks approx 2 weeks ago and thanks again Karen I appreciate the help.
These are two of the darkest red

The two blonde/buff are foreground right and sitting on log next to other black practically the same as Jr shown earlier. I just want to know how to record their colors from a genetic code prospective.

What breed of children has five toes? And where can I get them?

Any children can get an extra toe, it's something that just happens. Sorry I know that was a typo I just couldn't resist.

You're talking chicken here right? The first one that comes to mind is the Salmon Faverolle, and another is the Mottled Houdans. At least I think the Houdans has five toes.

that is a euro mutt and parent of mutt, the houdans are whom characteristicly carry 5 toes on a single foot.

Also, Silkies, Dorkings, and Sultans.

I have another genetics question. In my latest hatch of bantam mixes, I had a white chick who is now feathering out BLUE. I have no blue dilution genetics in my bantams and have had them for about 7-8 years. I had one solid black and all of my barred birds are black barred. No blues/splashes. I can't wait to see if it's actually blue. I read that originally, blue was produced from black and white parents--which I have had.

On a similar note, l also thought it was interesting that my hatchery White Leghorn hen carries blue. Interesting to see what is there to enhance the white!

Does anyone know if this hen looks Pg/pg or Pg/Pg? I ask because the pencilling looks rather smutty. She's in my layer flock.
