Illinois traders!!!!

Looking for some turkey poults. Anyone have Royal Palm or bourbon red? Hatched would be great, but would also take a stab at hatching eggs. 8 is magic number for me. I'm in the Will County (South Chi suburbs) area, willing to travel a bit. I hope to hear from one of you!
Try PMing BYCer @Franzen Farms I have gotten Bourbon Red eggs from Chris before and he hatches so perhaps you can get poults from him. I see he hasn't been on in a while, if you don't get a response to a PM, let me know and I'll look for more info on him.

edited to add.......he is in Wilmington so not far from you.

Thanks for mentioning me, But sorry to say that we have gotten out of raising Heritage Turkeys this past year and will be selling off most of our poultry supplies this spring.

Mini Appleyards. I found a gal that sells them through eBay. I am so excited! My friend also has Indian Runner eggs if I want them. Rural king is a good option too. That's where I got my chicks last year. You have an incubator? Options open up everywhere if you dont need chicks...

Gosh, I'd really like to just get eggs and hatch em... but I'm not willing to pay for shipped eggs. Never had much luck.
I need to find some local eggs here in Southern Illinois! Speaking of eggs, anyone every hear of someone finding and incubating wild turkey eggs? A farmhand told me he regularly comes across them while mowing pasture and around fencing in the spring and that he's given them to a friend with an incubator before. He wants to know if I want some this spring...

This will be my first go with shipped eggs. I'm nervous a bit, but I can't knock it til I try it! We shall see!
There are a few things you can do to increase the odds - like allowing them to rest for 12-24 hrs before setting, incubating air cell up (instead of on side), not turning for the 1st 2-3 days of incubation, dry incubation, etc. I've never gotten more than 68% hatch with most hatches being around 50%. I've also never had a 0% hatch. It's definitely not an economical way to get baby chicks, but it's a way to get the specific breeds &/or quality you want.
