:bow
You were right all along! I thought Phoenix was a girl, then switched to boy, & then back to girl. Finally a definite answer. Congrats on the new little layer!

(Of course Xansie - the biological mama - likes to crow when she's broody. LOL )

I didnt doubt your original guess. Watch out....her sisters are next!
More eggs to be tempted to incubate!:gig

Goodness knows shes been squawking for two days.....LOUDLY. So loud DS ran out to the garage to see what was wrong! Maybe the apple doesnt fall far from the tree?

Last night DS asked me for a "penguin cake." Here's my idea for a penguin cake with the supplies I had on hand:

It's choc cake with a ganache glaze to make it look smooth. I used scissors to cut marshmallows since I didn't want to make another frosting..... and marshmallows are one of his fav sweets. DS was happy & said that it looked just like a penguin before I even decorated it.

:yesss:

I love the cake!

Well another of my white cx mix breeding hens bit the dust, :hitfound her in the nest box all purple :sick.. usually that means a heart condition. I did not open her up and look though.
I have plenty more but she was one of "Dinners" daughters. I had hope the orp blood could help with the early death issues I am having.. she wasn't even a year old.... :barnie

So sorry for your loss.

Congratulations to all of those having new or more egg layers!

We got our first turkey egg tonight!!!!

Thank you

congrats on the turkey egg :wee

I put a dz turkey eggs in the incubator today:celebrate .. now I need a hen to go broody to do the real work for me

There's also one on craigslist that will incubate up to 18,000 eggs (so it says) for 800. My current rate of collection is 72 eggs a week. That would take me 4.8 years to collect enough. I think a few might be bad.....:gig
And even if you just hatched 70 a week, what would we do with them all :barnie
