except for what is supposed to be a white cornish.. appears to be a dark cornish...someone id for me

all 3 appear to be cockerels... which is good for me, since I raise for meat... the cornish will be a breeder and the 2 cx mix probably will go to freezer camp

Ok, i have a problem. I cleaned out my coops this morning as always and went to work. Came home and went to collect eggs. Found these lovely 4 white spitzhauben eggs. Problem is, i only have 3 hens. Anyone ever hear of a chicken laying more than 1 egg in less than 7 hours?!? My sportzington lays darker pink/brown eggs and the ee's lays brown and green eggs. Thoughts?

Tell me more about your incubator!!!!!! This is something husband would LOOOVE(engineers hearts are happy when making/building things!) I feel like my area just doesn’t have a lot of chicken owners! Or I’m just missing out and not looking in right place!
My fiance also built us a coolerbator maybe 2-3 years back. It's great!

He has since been working on a cabinet incubator with attached hatcher. This could get dangerous!
;) Because if course I'll have to test them out when finished.

They look really good and definitely good enough to eat! LoL please keep track of their weight if you can I'd love to see any info you have on how they grow.

We have entirely too much going on to work much on any projects right now. We also haven't managed a full clean out of the coop, top to bottom yet this year.

Every day we've been free it's raining.

With everything with my future MIL going on(update in the next paragraph) it has been about 4 days since I closely examined my precious hen Pebbles. Although we have been sure to watch her go eat with the flock I now believe she has either been taking eating or has been getting jostled and pushed away from the majority of the feed. Maybe she's just not absorbing it well. I'm not sure.

You all might remember she was having a slow crop.

Well her crop was totally empty this morning.

I brought her in and fed her moistened game bird feed as well as dry game bird feed and scrambled eggs. She's been in twice to eat so far today and has also been drinking. She really likes the game bird feed but isn't eating as much as I would like. She was of course also sopping wet after the awful storms this morning. She pecked at but wouldn't swallow the scrambled eggs. I will continue bringing her in and feeding her specially. I hope she makes it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Idk what's wrong with her.

My future MIL is now off the feeding tube(which usually doesn't happen until day 5 after transplant) it hasn't yet been 48 hours since her surgery. She also went for a longer walk today of about 300 feet. She's still on oxygen for the time being as they say not only will it take some time to adjust but it will also help reinflate the small airways in her new lung.

Well, at least it's a good problem. I've heard that some high production birds - like Leghorns, Australorps, etc, can possibly lay 2 eggs in a day. One egg very early am and a 2nd late afternoon - about 12 hrs later. Is it possible that the hen couldn't lay her egg yesterday & held it in overnight? That's why she was popped it out early this morning & then hours later, today's egg came out. Maybe?

A more logical explanation is that you missed the egg or a hen was "hiding" it, and you just found it this afternoon. (Is there a possible broody-want-to-be stealing eggs?) Do your neighbors have chickens? Could you have a visitor? I've heard other people complain about people just "dumping" unwanted animals like cats, dogs, & roosters at their farm. Does one of the eggs have a hue of color? (Colored eggs can get very washed out & may look white.) Just some ideas.

Let me know if you figure it out.

@cavemanrich - Do you have any wild ideas? :pop

@Faraday40 - I cleaned out the coop this morning. Everything. Nothing but fake eggs. Mama spitzie was going nuts acting like she couldnt wait for me to finish. She has just started relaying. My first thought was she might have had two eggs. My second thought was the sportzington laying a lighter colored egg, but she lays bigger egg too. She also kept coming in this morning, but mama kept chasing her out.

I don't handle my birds unless something is wrong, I sell a hen or after I process cockerels. they usually run 5-7lbs dressed at 16wks
So while keeping weight growth records would be very useful, I would rather not have birds I tame down and betray at harvest time...
Also the cornish is in a short pen I can't catch him if I wanted too :barnie

So Glad MIL is doing well, prayers for pebbles

Mama turkey was at a back fence calling and I thought there was a lost poult or something. Never seen anything. Later she was picking on her daughter that is co brooding with her.
Then I find this in her old nestbox with a bunch of chicken eggs

She just hatched her brood may 3
2 other turkeys are sitting on eggs and she was acting different today... I guess hormonal

As for WILD ONES ,,,,,,,, :yesss:
If I lived close to @homeschoolin momma ,,,,, and knew nobody was home,,,,, I would have sneaked in 3 or 4 eggs. :gig:lau
That kind of reminds me of a joke my DW and DD pulled on me many years ago.
Had a hen and she was not laying at all anymore. (silkie) Also had a couple of other chickens that did not start to lay yet. (very young chicks)
DW took a store egg, and dyed it brown in some tea. The magnificent DUO called me into garage and start showing me an egg they said Mother Hen laid.
Then out of the clear blue, the egg rolls out of DD's hand,:lau:gig
OF COURSE MY HEART SANK AT THAT MOMENT:hit
THEN THE LAUGHTER STARTED. :gig

I took a pic of my OEG (Digger) & her "baby." I've got some broody issues going on. A serama & silkie went broody last week. But, I'm also finding my OEG in their nest box. Like her name describes, the OEG likes to dig & nestle under things. (Usually hair, my neck, a hand, etc.) She's constantly trying to nestle under her BFF - the serama. This confuses her chick who is trying to nestle under the OEG who is under the serama. The silkie is MaiMai. She doesn't seem to mind all the "loving" going on around her, but we've stopped trying to figure her out long ago. She's content to sit on and incubate the feed dish. It's going to be interesting to see how this story plays out.

Anyway, here's the OEG & her "baby" - a gold laced orp.

A Grand Day today, I finished the partition area in the run for all the chicklets. We all couldn't be happier that now they're out and they're new box and run. I'll be closing them in their IMG_20190524_124529430.jpg house every night for about a week or so.
It's still a little early to tell, but so far it looks like only one Cockerel out of the seven, the black copper maran. He'll be welcome to stay for a while. The olive egger though has yet to show its colors.
