Illinois...

(From my neighbor)

Our Olive Egger chick has decided that the top of the tote we are using as a brooder is her perch. She's the only one doing this. I have a feeling she's the top hen already in this group. There other two are generally much calmer than she is.

Apologies for the poor photo. I had to zoom in quite a bit with my phone as I was some distance from the brooder. Also, don't mind the clutter. The temporary seed table and brooder take up space.

Anyone in southern Illinois have polish chicks, hens, or hatching eggs they'd be willing to sell? I actually just moved to Perryville Missouri from Mascoutah Illinois, were real close to the river. I can't find anyone with them around here. I'd rather not order them if I don't have to.

Well, puffy cheek chick taught another chick how to greet on the top edge of the brooder. Now we need to keep the large squirrel (AKA dog) from stalking them. I'll have to make a cover for this brooder.
I have a wooden screen for a storm door that fits over the stock tank I use as a brooder
