Illinois...

Glad those raccoons are getting themselves caught. I know people like to re-locate but I wouldn't want anyone re-locating something to my neighborhood. Seems like passing around a problem to someone else.

I was outside painting my coop when a neighbor came over to talk through the fence. She said they get coyotes in their yard (we share the back lot line but I can't see over her trees to see into the yard much unless I go up to them and look through on purpose). I didn't think we got them anymore because I never see them but she said they'll be out in their hot tub and 2 of them just walk through like they own the place. And then recently she started seeing foxes too. I guess once my ladies are outside they're going to be doubling their efforts to get in my fence.

Prayers that they don't find your chickens.
I had no losses for 5 years, until a week ago.
Got another raccoon last night

My layers have been on tamblyn non soy feed for a week now. The eggs lost a little bit of flavor. 2 other notable differences
1) the shells are perfect, haven't had to supplement calcium at all. However the shell isnt at bonded with the membrane so sometimes chips of shell falls into bowl.
2) was anywhere between 6 and 9 eggs a day ( 9 pullets). Now 4 days in a row got 8 eggs.

Was the previous feed non soy?
What is the egg average for 4 days before?

I just used F&F bag feed before. Nothing special.

Egg production was erratic before. 6 one day 8 the next, at most 9. Probably averaged 7 a day before. Now with feed been getting 8 every day.

Wasn't complaining, just noting differences. Had to supplement calcium and was always too much or too little. Now just right.
Interesting the shell separates more easily from the membrane, should be a help with boiled eggs. I cant say if this is good or bad, just notable difference.

I thought you were just noting difference.
Glad egg production is a bit better
