Illinois...

This guy came from Faradays eggs. His dad was sweet and so was mom. His sister is the most curious thing I've ever owned. I think some of his issues are just being young and a strong desire to be top dog. The lav roo pictured did a lot of dancing for me and would bite me if I picked him up at this age. He's now much calmer and doesn't bite. I offer "free" hugs when he's getting too testy. Didn't do it today because I had to go stop puppy from eating all the chicken food.......and chicken "snack treats".
Thanks for the pix!

I had fun visiting @homeschoolin momma 's family today... and trying to deworm her flock.
The easiest way I found is to measure and apply the medication to pieces of bread. Grab chicken, feed her the "special" treat, put her down, grab next chicken, and repeat. It should only take a few minutes, right? Well that's not quite what happened.

Her chickens refused to eat while being held. We tried putting hen in the empty coop to see if she'd eat it there. Nope! Too freaked out. Allow hen to eat medicated bread in the next pasture. Nope! Chicken just frantically paced the fence. Meanwhile, the ducks and other chickens kept trying to steal the bread. We ended up throwing the bread right next to the target bird, while attempting to keep away all the others. (Not easy! LOL) Many of her chickens didn't gulp down the bread - at least not until they already had their share and wanted seconds.

My family brought some holiday baked goods for @homeschoolin momma 's family ..... and then my son helped himself. Not only do we bring sweets, but we help you eat them too!

There was lots of puppy play time, cookie decorating, and kids playing. As usual my kids did not want to leave and were already asking to return before we had our coats on.

Overall, a wonderful day! Thank you @homeschoolin momma for having us.

Brahmas it would be their first egg. Got them in may/june ish?
Only other option is my CX but I think they lay more white eggs? @Molpet ?

Today is literally the shortest day of the year. So strange that a pullet would lay her 1st egg now.

Because of color and size, it could be an orp egg. I don't know much about the other breeds.

We're leaving tomorrow morning for Disney -- taking the whole family. I've been gone here and there through 2020 but my boys are always here to take care of all the animals. This time they're coming with and my best friend's 18 year old daughter is going to stay at my house to take care of everyone. I'm so nervous!! I know my boys are capable of handling it because they help me every day and they watch me and they know who gets along with who and which critters need what. And she's a good kid and a smart kid but I feel like my poor chickens are going to wonder if we abandoned them. Plus it's going to get cold. And the babies are still afraid of the big girls. I always miss my dogs and I always look forward to coming home to them. The lizard doesn't care who takes care of her. But my chicks are going to come flying out that door tomorrow at 7am and be pissed off when I'm not there to give them their morning treats. I know they'll be okay and it's all in my head. The hard part about having animals...

Congrats, and enjoy. Dont worry about cold, chickens a far tougher than we think.
I'm not sure how safe alcohol would be in @cavemanrich 's "safekeeping".
DW and I were wondering how Disney would be..... the lines are long enough before social distancing. If Florida (i think Cali is closed anyway) you have to eat at Ohana and Cape May. There was another that has prime rib but I forgot the name, beach theme place.
