Got the chickens into winter housing inside garage loft. The snows, and deep freeze are coming. No need to let them out in the morning, and lock them up at night.
Once a day service to add feed, and water. That is all that is needed,,, but I go into garage and give them kitchen scraps as they are generated.

My ducks are not in sync with the seasons. They made a nest in their coop and filled it with 9 eggs (although 1 was broken). DW didn't notice it in the corner and wasn't expected to have eggs so she wasn't exactly looking. I got out there yesterday to do the chores of feeding and cleaning and found the eggs. They are from this past week for sure and clean so I brought them in and added to the fridge.

We got a cold snap yesterday, my ladies had been laying all winter13-15 a day out 15 pullets, well they said heck no! only 4/15 layed. Today I walked in and got these eggs. I only have the pullets no turkey no geese. I swear she crossed her legs yesterday.

Looks like a pullet suddenly became a hen. Lol.

Most of my hens are on strike due to the cold. BUT, I have a silkie who's thinking about going broody. I keep finding Xansie in her nest box. Her female 4 month old "chick" often sits next to her. LOL
