Sushi is definitely a SWEETIE ,, and super gentle. This is my second Japanese. Given to me by my neighbor. My first one is gone for quite some time now.

Beautiful ladies. I will keep this in mind and maybe get a couple. I see a lot of different breeds I would love to own. I do have a limited amount I can have though. This has been on my list of wants aand now that I know how sweet they are I will have to move them up on my list.Thank you for sharing with me.

@STACEYH I airboat your knowledge on my peach pruning and have a situation I wonder if you could advise on. When I pruned the peach I took out about 25-30% of what will be foliage in the coming weeks. Looking at it there's one branch that is quite upright still and may become a leader. I want to prune it and likely use a heading cut to stop this leader in it's tracks. Do you think I should wait until next year though? I don't want to over prune? If do do prune it this year, I'll wait a few weeks per our previous discussion of the topic.

As young as the tree is I personally would wait until next year. You have already removed a good percentage this year. If you don't get too many suckers this year I would only prune the leader next year.
I looked back at your pictures. Are you talking about the right side back limb?
Yes, I would make a heading cut for the side growth but will that place the new limbs into the neighbors yard?

Yes, it's the back right branch. As for the new limbs being over the fence, it's very possible, but I think they'll be up high enough at that point. I figure anything over 8ft upis fair game. Three fence is east of the tree, so the tree doesn't block sunlight from the neighbors tomatoes that isn't already blocked by the fence all afternoon. Also the neighbor is friendly and likes to garden too, so I'm sure he would let me in his yard for pruning in the future if needed and wouldn't mind some totally free peaches. I just don't want low branches racing over that may get in his way, which is what I had to prune off on that side of the tree - although I think those branches would have come off even if the tree was in the middle of a clearing because they were hanging downward and one was damaged.

You got lucky having such good neighbors. I don't and everything I do is an issue for my neighbors.
Sounds like you are feeling more sure of what you need and that is great. Just remember when you buy more trees to think about the adult version of it in the spot you would like to place it.
I had an apple tree get up rooted by a tornado. one side of the tree had root still in the ground. I cut all but one limb off and watched it grow into the new trunk of the tree.
Even though you think those branches would fall off, that tree will do anything to stay alive.

Looks like I'm off to get tested for Covid.
DS's school called because he had a stomach ache at lunch. As protocol, he needed a negative Covid test to return to school. (No temp, no cold symptoms, and he felt better about a half hour later.) We got him in for a test just before the site closed. He got ready for school this morning so that we could drop him off as soon as his Covid results came in. SURPRISE! It was positive! He feels perfectly fine. I guess if you have to get it, that's the way to go.

Meanwhile I have my usually morning congestion/ sore throat. Goes away by getting out of bed and drinking some coffee. DH is tired (Again his usual morning condition which also goes away with coffee.) So, we're headed out to get tested.

Our whole house had it at Christmas to New Years. I hope for mild symptoms and rapid recovery. Hopefully you and DH are negative. The incubation period is 10 days though, so keep an eye out for symptoms over the next week or so even if you do test negative and get retested if any symptoms pop up.

DS has absolutely no Covid symptoms. When we received the email, we opened the attached results right away. We expected a negative result and thought we might be able to quickly get him on the bus. Very surprising to read he's positive.

This morning, DH & I filled out the online questionnaire associated with our doctor's network. Due to our exposure, we were given a list of their 3 drive through test sites, which are open daily from 8am-4pm. Yet, when we got there, it was CLOSED! The sign said it was closed for the rest of the day due to high volume. Seriously?! Isn't high volume a reason to increase testing services? So, we had to find and register for a different drive through test site. Finally done and awaiting results.
