Illinois...

  I never knew that could happen!
Do you have a pic of such a creature?

I'd love guineas, but live in a neighborhood.  Don't think they'd be appreciated. LOL

I have never hatched one personally (apparently it's rare even if the guinea hens submit to roosters) but in my above post it's linked to a site with some pictures as well as some pictures in a Google search...

***EDIT and yes guineas are not the most neighborhood friendly birds, they make rooster seem like the silent type...

8 bantam cochins eggs went into lockdown, 8 hatched. Happy mama over here. Most look mottled black or blue, but I do believe I have a splash too. Added them with my 2 Orps which look huge and 3 SL cochin bantams.

Wow! There is abundance of cuteness here. Seems like I will need to stop by some day. My EHAL went into lock-down two hours ago. 8 eggs. Plus have another seven running 3-6 days behind (that were sneaked in later)

I have 3 hatches left, one is in lockdown due Friday. Then another on the 1st and 10th. My Spangled Orps should be here today from Greg also. I have to set up another brooder.

Woo Hoo, Spangled Orps arrived this morning. Looks like 5 big robust boys and maybe 3 girls, just going off of size. 1 little girl must of had a rough trip, she is getting special treatment and hoping she will make it. Its like Christmas here, tomorrow my hatch is due.

Well it's that time of the year I need to go by some 'white' eggs so the kids can color them, they are on sale everywhere for $0.99 and it's still annoying to purchase them...

I actually was going to get 6 white egg layers last year after Easter just for this single purpose, but that moment passed and was forgotten...

Anyone else with colored egg layers feel the same?

Someone on the Wisconsin thread used brown eggs and the colors turned out stunning! Really vibrant. Check it out.

Well there is the other aspect that I sell most of my 'extra' eggs, so if I was to set 3-4 dozen aside and not sell them that would theoretically cost me more then buying the white ones..

It's just a pet peeve I guess... I could always dye the guinea eggs, I have about 7 dozen of them on the counter...
