Illinois...

@junaid
Here are some of my chick pics from you. They just turned 2 weeks old. I didn't get pics of the blue laced today, so I'll try to take some soon. They are strangest of the hatch.

Below is Trouble with 2 blk/lav splits popping out of her feathers & the bodies of the gold laced chicks can be seen in front of her. Notice how the one has full wings & the other ("Grumpy") has only wing stubs. I'm happy he's still hanging in there but he's much slower in everything & seems kind of weaker than the rest.

This is the only Buff Blue Colombian that hatched. It looks sort of like a Jubilee orp at this stage. I guess I was expecting it to look like a solid buff orp chick. It's been a long time since we had a yellow chick hatch, so it's been fun.

Below are the silver laced. I'm already predicting that the one on the left is male & the one on right is a female.
Left: bigger, lazy, more rounded head shape, stands upright.... but then lays back down to rest, comb is slightly bigger
Right: Comb is almost nonexistent, always peeping/vocal, more angular head shape, has slightly more feather growth.

Same 2 chicks but I thought the "female's" pose was funny.

Those are some cute chick pics! Love the SL pullet posing, :yesss: Have to post my 3 from Junibutt!
I know I said it already but, I adore this Blue Cuckoo! He is so big, compared to the other 2 chicks. Hoping for some good type on both of these boys. :fl
1st row-Lacing is coming in nicely on the chocolate laced cockerel
2nd row-Blue cuckoo, Big BOY! I have a feeling he will be stunning.
3rd row-chocolate laced thinking pullet, lacing is more chocolate than white and very muddy.

Your chicks are looking great! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one trying to predict gender at only 2 weeks old. Of course two of my 4 week olds are sporting taller pink combs already, so I'm hoping to rehome the rest of the that group soon.

BTW- How's everyone's egg production with all the fireworks going on? I think my birds are pretty stressed out tonight. Our neighbors one block over started last Thurs & every night since. Last night it didn't stop until 11:30pm. I figure they'll run out soon, right?

Fireworks still going over here tonight. The whole neighborhood is blowing them off. Since I changed their run and have all the pine shaving out there, after lockup tonight, I soaked the pine shaving for a good 10 minutes. With all the fireworks being blown, don't need something falling and starting the shavings on fire. Will be doing it again tomorrow nite also.
Egg production has been ok, but will see the next couple of days. If it is affected, I guess I had good timing. They just had their second round of Ivermectin. So eggs are being tossed anyway.

@Faraday40 Apart from being a great photographer, you must be a hypnosis expert as well. I just can't get my chicks calm down to take pics. If I bring them inside the lighting is awful. Really nice pics of the SL and I agree, seems like a pair.

The Blue Bluff Columbian still looks like a work in progress, only time will tell. So far its looking like a pullet to me, so you can probably grow it out for sometime to see what she ends up looking.

Wow that blue cuckoo boy already has the type. I want at least one of us to have those 15-20 lb roosters everyone talks about. Lets see!

P.S. I have to take fresh pictures but the mystery chick I messaged on facebook is getting some chocolate laced feathers as well. So it maybe an incomplete choc laced silver. You can have it if you like because it could be really useful in your project. Again only time will tell how it completely feathers out. Since its not going to be any help in the choc mottled project it would not do any harm to me :)

Its funny that today is the most eggs I got in a while but my chicken are used to loud ambulances and firetrucks all the time. Maybe tonight and tomorrow's fireworks may do some damage. At the moment they are unfazed.

Well I havent had much egg luck since a few days ago with the light colored egg... this is all that we have found

Not very pretty. Pretty sure its Peaches since its the darker color. It was sad after her having two pretty perfect eggs to find this.. I know laying can be spotty in the beginning, but I was hoping we would be at least getting mostly normal eggs.

Was there an egg inside that or just tissue. If there was an egg inside, no need to be alarmed, it happens in the beginning but if there is just tissue, its a lash egg. That would mean she has some sort of infection/inflammation in her uterus.
