one coop I counted 14 hens and 2 roos at lock up for months... now there are 15 hens and 2 roos... HOW did I miss that hen? I thought she came from the other coop, but they are all accounted for in there... they all look like mine, act like they belong and know each other... a sign I have too many LOL

:lau

I feel that way at times too - but with kids.

I only have 2 but they're off on break this week. So, why did I have 6 hungry kids here at lunchtime?

Happy Thanksgiving

(We've been making cards.... and of course finding more ways to use up all the molted chicken feathers.)

and

:welcome to all the new people on the thread!

Thank you all so much it means the world all the support I get from you guys. Today was the visitation and funeral tomorrow is the military honors at the cemetery.

If I didn't mention it the funeral has been split this way bc of some stupid rules the cemetery has.

It was sad to see the funeral so small of course Grandpa was old and his parents and siblings are all gone but my Grandpa was such a wonderful man I feel like the place should have been busting at the seams. Everyone teared up but loved the song "outskirts of heaven".

More later guys thanks again for all of the support.

13 eggs!
Must not set eggs....Must not set eggs.... There's a real reason why I must put the incubators into storage in August.

I'm still holding strong, the incubator's in storage, but I have 6 beautiful orp eggs (& some EEs and other mixes) that could be turned into chicks.

Must not set eggs....must not set eggs... LOL

I promised myself that first I'd wait & see if the eggs under the hen inside the coop hatch. (They have been abandoned & gotten cold 4 times.)

I have some peeping going on under my first time pullet... :celebrate
they were due tomorrow and with her getting off at the coldest part of the morning I thought they would be late...

I have a nari tom w/crooked toes that I 'should' process soon... will see if I get to it before winter :hmm..
The feathers get wet scalding.. can I dry them in a pillowcase in the dryer or air dry flat? and be usable for you? Which feathers do you want? I can try pulling some before scalding.. The tail feathers are rather raggy from them strutting against the fence...not many feathers in the yard.. chipmunks took them for bedding LOL
