The big question then is: Are you willing to part with one of your orp chicks?I love sharing my orpington addiction!
I have Lavender

& Silver Laced Orps - the lacing of my SLO chicks is either black or blue depending on the hen. 'Mr Wonderful' has black lacing.

(I also breed black & blue orps.) Here's one blue I held back from my March hatch. She's getting big!

I will probably not start a lavender laced orp project since the blue - silver laced orp would look pretty much the same. I sold off my Isabel orps and all my chocolate & chocolate cuckoo orps last year.
*The 1st lav hen pic was taken a while ago, but all the other pics were taken today. The silkie is raising some lavs & blacks right now. Cookie's eggs will hatch this weekend & then my last hatch will be mid July.
The rp have black...Jewel & her babies went out to the grass for the 1st time today. They're about 1 week old. I got a few pics but my lens kept fogging up! I gave the chickens some frozen berries. They loved them!
@Molpet Unlike the last white ones, this white poult has some color on its wing tips. Do you think it could be a royal palm? What about the browns? This batch is also growing faster. Could that mean Toms or could it be the rough start the others had? The last 2 looked diff. One big boned with wider head & the other more petite with an angular head shape. These 3 look the same in size/ head shape.

Also picked & processed a bunch of cherries. (My 3rd vat of pie filling this week)
Meanwhile, Cookie will be getting her chicks soon!
There are 22 eggs in the incubator- due tonight thru Sunday. Most will be purebred orps ( black, lav, & laced) but I added 4 EEs just for fun. I don't expect all to hatch.

5 eggs under her now - due on Mon-Tues (These were sort of an afterthought but close enough in age to be added together. Am I the only one who does this or is it common among hatch-a-holics? In my defense, they are laced orp eggs & I didn't want to just eat them!)
so far in the incubator I have:
2 early chicks - just hatched - an EE & a lav orp
10 pipped eggs
10 unpipped
Any idea what color the lighter laced orp will end up being? Looks white or yellow currently in the pic, but J already no how much a chick changes color in time.Incubator progress: Saturday noon, eve, & Sunday morning![]()
From my lav eggs. I expected blk/lav splits.... but didn't know my roo carried choc too!
I love the unexpected variety!
Mystery colored orp:
Mystery orp next to GG's chick (standing). Hers are either blue laced or buff Columbian depending on the roo. I love both colors! I also giggled at the "oops" photo. Can you guess which chick is already hgher in the pecking order?

Chicks got put under Cookie & then all moved to brooder. Such a great mama! The unhatched eggs got moved to the incubator. (Six eggs left to go in various stages. Some may hatch as late as Tues)
