For those that have or are incubating turkey eggs what do you run your humidity at for hatching and lockdown?

Also do they need the same temperatures as chicken eggs?

Same until lockdown... around 30% .. then 80% and drop temp a bit

All of the 15 eggs that went into lockdown finished hatching and the last 3 moved into the brooder this morning.

Silver laced orps are stunning as adults, but sort of awkward as chicks.

My puppy wanted to help.

so long as he doesn't go chomp

my chicks are always wild and wouldn't stand still for a photo op... so how long does it take to get a shot like this?

The 4 school incubators are going well.
We peeked/ candled 3 of the incubators.
18 Leghorns = 16 developing
9 spitzes = 9 developing
4 turkeys= 4 developing
3 seramas = 3 developing
Orps are unknown due to darker shell

I put a couple of Phoe-Phoe's egg's in. (Phoenix, but DD pronounces it FeeFee. She has to give every bird several nicknames.) I saw one of them developing last night, so Jasper's doing his job.

My photo secrets....
Set up the blanket & get camera before grabbing chicks.
Photo 1-3 chicks at a time. (More is just too crazy.)
Take the pics when moving chicks from incubator to brooder. (Basically before they learn to run around well.)
Since pics are now digital, take a lot & delete extras later.

The dog is very interested in the chicks & spends more time watching the brooder than the kids do. (There's a wire lid, of course.) He doesn't seem to want to eat the chicks, but he's very interested in their poop! I'm wondering if the chicks are going to imprint on the dog. Whenever they cry out, he runs to their brooder.

I candled my 12 turkey and all seem to be developing.
The mama hen has been sitting a few days. I was running out every 15 to see if she was off the nest to swap eggs....so when she took a break Yesterday I swapped out the turkey eggs... of course she went back to a different spot where she had a nest last year .. so the eggs went back to the bator.... a half hour later the power went out. only for an hour
It was hot in the coop and she was in a solid metal dog cage, from a shelter. She moved to between it and the hoop coop wall where I had some bait eggs. Later she moved back to the cage and sat on nothing . I gave her one egg she had and she didn't attack , pulled it in under her. She will get another chance later.

So I figured I better get the shade cloth up while she is making up her mind. About all I got accomplished yesterday.

This was my black orp Lila. It literally took this hen over 2 mo to get her babies. She had only been my second broody so it took me a week or so to realize that's what she wanted. (I've gotten better now, thank goodness ) I kept putting eggs under her I though would be black or lav and she would sit for a few days and then completely change nests. so finally, I had to go out every two hours or so and make sure she was sitting on the right one and move her if she wasn't. For 3 weeks. Everyday. I dont know who was happier, her or me.

Are you keeping any of these chicks? Maybe raising them around the dog will make the dog more acclimated to chickens.
