To all my new Illinois BYC friends. A little over a week ago, Faraday40 mentioned she was chick sitting for me due to a family emergency. My mum, who has been battling a liver disease known as PSC for 23 years developed cancer in her liver last year. Doctors tried to aggressively treat it. But this cancer, this horrible thing which claims so many lives every year couldn't be stopped. My mum lost her battle this morning. Prayers requested that I can get through this and be there for my dad.

My brother is out of surgery. The infection has spread to the tissue over his hip and the pelvis. He will be staying in the hospital for now getting iv meds and getting dressing changes via surgery.

Continued prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for the continued prayers for my brother.

I'm so grateful that we have found such a kind group of friends that are all willing to share their faith and pray for one another in their joys and sorrows.

Today is truly the day of the greatest gift and miracle.

They have identified the bacteria in my brother and have changed the antibiotic to better fight it.

He is still having bandage changes via surgery. Blood work showed no bacteria in his blood at this point. Also a CT scan showed no more abcesses or pockets of infection in his abdomen.

What good news they have found what was making him sick and there are no more pockets of infection. It sounds like he will still have a long uphill battle, bit at least they know how to fight!

On another note, I an so happy the weather had finally turned better! My chickens however decided that nice weather means they should go free ranging. One of our hens went over a 6 ft fence into our neighbors yard. His dog was out and did get her. She managed to be unhurt thankfully. My neighbor was our the with his dog and it wad a scene to watch him try to chase the chicken and hold the dog back away the same time.
Fortunately he is a friendly neighbor. I have to get bird netting up ASAP though over the run.
