Illinois...

Okay so they're closing Mom up we're just waiting for the doctor to come out and talk to us. The lung is in. She will be in ICU for between 2 days and a week maybe more if she needs. Also she will be on a ventilator for the first day or two.

Mom is out and in her room they're just getting everything settled and then we can go in. She's of course heavily sedated because of the ventilator. The next few days are critical.

Got some shots of Jake this evening.....poor guy.

Also, I need to rehome this guy. He's a nice size and good round English shape, right around a year old so a little more growing to do still. He has what Faraday thinks might be some gold leakage in a few feathers. He is one of her babies. He's nice, although not super tame, he tolerates handling fine. He's the lowest on the totem pole. I just need one less roo.

Poor Jake must be the "butt" of all jokes, but thankfully he's alive. I hope he continues to recover.

The black /lav split roo has a nice shape & I like the iridescent feathers, but the gold leakage on a few feathers is not great for breeding. If you end up eating him..... save me some of those pretty feathers.

I candled a few of the seramas already & saw development. (White eggs are easy to see after only a few days.) I'll check your lav orp eggs tomorrow. I may not be able to tell much until 10-14 days. By then it's obvious.

The eggs in the hatcher incubator were due yesterday. THEY'RE LATE! i have them in the Hovabator w/o fan. One serama just hacthed 2 hours ago. (One of Noodle's eggs) All the orps & coro sussex = no change & no pips. I'm now hoping they're either late or I miscounted the days. The last time I hatched Coronation Sussex, it took 23-25 days. I know it's too early to worry, but I am.

Thanks for the updates. I'm praying she recovers from surgery easily.

Hi! So I hope I’m okay posting this, I just saw it was in IL and as I’m in the Chicagoland area(kane county) and searching for someone locally who breeds silkies and also button quail OR someone locally who can incubate and hatch some eggs for me. Is anyone near me or have a direction to point me in?

@homeschoolin momma
OK..... I couldn't wait 'til tomorrow night. I just had to go peek at the eggs.

In your lav orp eggs I saw
3 with very good development :celebrate
1 blood ring :hit
and the rest I can't tell because the shells are dark. = wait n see

My useless bantam eggs had a lot of good veining. Hopefully people will want my seramas. All of one silkie's eggs were fertile & none of the other silkie's eggs developed. Very strange mystery.

The laced orp eggs are also developing OK or shells are too thick to tell. The good news is that only the eggs from that one silkie were clear.

While I was playing with the eggs, I checked on the progress of the eggs that are due now. I saw 2 shadows moving around - probably internally pipped. Many looked all solid shadow, so who knows.

My kids & I love to incubate eggs. I do not breed silkies, but I will likely have some mini silkie mixes in about 2 weeks. Daddy's a purebred silkied serama and mama's a purebred silkie. The babies look like mini silkies.

I think @chickendreams24 may breed silkies. I don't know of anyone with button quail.
