Illinois...

Have they been outside yet? Do they follow you around?
Follow me around? No they act like I'm killing them everytime I pick them up. They're schizophrenics and were teaching the cl's to be too. Took them out and put them back with the new babies even though they are double the size.

Did my best taking pics of my chicks today. Couldn't fit all 11 seramas, but thought these weren't bad

How do you do this? Most of them are even facing the right direction. I cant get mine to stand in one place. There everywhere!
What do you think.... dark blue orp or Light black orp
My first instinct was to say black, but after looking again.......I'm now thinking blue.... oh me oh my.

I'm afraid I'm going to lose the spitzie that needed help hatching. Real weak and having trouble walking. Gave some poultry drench and some watered down food in a dropper and put wrapped loosely in the little inky.

I will say though i did have to make a bootie for a different spitz to straighten out a middle toe. Seems to have worked wonders. The same one though has a deformed middle toe on the other foot. The claw literally comes out sideways.

I'm not sure why these spitz are struggling and having deformed toes. The inky read 99-100 the whole time. Unless I've got a really bad thermometer. Could be....

Well, its been a rough day. I either got into something, or something bit me days ago. It started off as just ichy skin on my back and right front chest. Then i started having pain in my upper back through to my chest and this angry raah has appeared. It hurts to walk, lay down....i cant get comfortable. Just taking care of all my chickies today was exhausting. I couldnt even fall asleep last night until 6am.:barnie Trying to make it until Monday to go see the doctor. I really dont want to go to the er. Grandma thinks its shingles, but I'm not so sure. Lots of bugs were chewing on me last week and weekend.

On top of it all, i dont think my Spitz chick is going to make it. It keeps getting weaker. My dad and I have done all we can do. But all the lav orps and 5 other spitzs are thriving. Plus next friday is our big experiment hatch. At least 13 more spitzies should be arriving.

I did get some newer brooder boxes yesterday. One for the chicks and a bigger one for big batches of chicks or the ducks. That one is a 50 tote, but the ducks wont be in that much longer. They have tripled their size since arriving. DH cut a hole in the smaller tote and put hardware cloth in place so fat cats dont reach in and well....help themselves.:smack

Tonight something had Jake all riled up so much that he refused to go to the coop to go to bed. I was doing DD hair for tomorrow and saw then hop on the fence and then fly into the tree in the pasture. Im already not feeling good, and was like now I've got to go knock chickens out of the tree? Fortunately, just tugging on the lowest limbs shook them out. Couldnt find the black ee chickens so was wondering if something got her causing the panic. Grabbed up mama spitz and walked to the coop and let her walk inside. Stuck my head in and low and behold, there she was fast asleep!:gig The other girls cautiously followed, meanwhile Jake was just bwaaking his head off the whole way in protest. He eventually manned up and went in and calmed down. Poor guy is going to have chicken "gray hairs" by the time i bag this coyote.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Definitely sounds like a doc visit would be beneficial for you.

Sorry about the Spitz chick. You can only help so much. I still have 2 extra females & a very nice male. The male has a great-looking crest and made his 1st pitiful crowing attempts this morning. Although the 2 orp boys are far bigger, the Spitz male must be the leader in the brooder. You're welcome to take the Spitz as a back up. He'll probably end up being processed at some point if I don't find him a home.

Speaking of crowing, we had to wake up early this morning. I went into DD's room to wake her up at 6:15am. I also happened to wake up Teddy, so AFTER I left the room, Teddy began crowing. A few min later when DD went into the shower, Teddy went back to being quiet. Such a lazy little rooster!
:lau:gig

Later in the morning, the kids were helping me clean up the kitchen just before breakfast.

Opps!

Oh well, it's the thought that counts. But what a spectacular mess!! Milk splashed over not just the plates, clothes, skin, floor, sink, & counter, but also dripped INSIDE the cabinet and all over the cleaned dishwasher load. After a couple showers & some more cleaning, I was able to cook breakfast for a 2nd time.

Happy Father's Day!

Its been a bad morning for me. Woke up in severe pain from my tailbone to my eyeballs. Its taken 3 hours, but we've finally gotten the pain under some control. Its looking more and more like shingles.

You're welcome to take the Spitz as a back up
The baby died sometime before midnight.
You know ill take whatever spitz that dont sell. I wanted you to have the best opportunity to be able to sell first. And right now, until the chicken tractor has been built, i dont have the space to put an older chick because of the ducks. But the supplies have been bought, so hopefully really soon. And the ducks will soon be able to go out and stay out. Hopefully the drake will teach the girls how to nust go and sleep in the big coop!

What a father's day. Sick in bed!:hmm
