I would say grandfather-granddaughter us acceptible if there's nk prior inbreeding. This would require to breeding pair to start, cross the second generations with each other, then breed the third generation with the first.

Sigh......all the boys died from the second generation due to predators last fall.

I suppose if i wanted to do a proper line breeding Jake would have to go back to Faradays and visit Poof Poof. Lol.

Ok Here are some pics:

My "accidental" Gold Laced orp. She continues to grow and her lacing has improved a little bit.

I caught my lav roo sleeping on the job! He should be breeding the hens, but he thinks he's over-worked. None of the lav orp hens are giving fertile eggs.

Here are Cookie's chicks. They're over 2 months & she finally abandoned them a couple days ago. If my current lav roo doesn't step it up, this lav cockerel may take his place.

The giant tail in back belongs to a 2 month old Leghorn who'e also in there. She was supposed to be with Cookie's older group but kept running away. I added her to this group 3.5 weeks ago. Xansie adopted her, & she's fine now.

These seramas are so tiny!

I got a few silkied seramas. This one was my fav....so of course he turned out to be male.

We have full sized bullfrogs. I still cannot believe they just appeared out of nowhere. We'r had people over on the 4th and they were intrigued by the pond, garden and all our birds. It was nice to see our hardwork appreciated.

By the way, appreciation of the garden and birds might have saved our relationship with a neighbor. The people behind us apparently had a lot of firework debris in their yard from our 4th of July festivities. I found out when the husband walked up to the fence today and told me about how they had to clean it from their lawn, deck and pool. I offered to come take over the cleanup duties, but it was too late. I decided we should grab a dozen of our freshest eggs and some of the lettuce that had just gotten large enough to pick and bring it to their door. Their son-in-law answered the door. I explained we were sorry and gave him the gift add an apologetic pace offering. A bit later I was back in our yard and clearing twigs from the netting over the chicken run. The husband came up to the fence again, this time to apologize to me. We chatted on for a bit like we typically would and all was well again. If they like the eggs we may even have another family to offload or extras. Who knew that a dozen dggs and a head of lettuce would be so valuable?

4th of July my truck decided to have a transmission leak when put in park or reverse. I think a trany line.

Friday the car AC decided to only put out semi cool air. Must have a leak somewhere.

Today the lever to raise the mower deck has a bolt come out and I haven't found it...
hope a turkey doesn't eat it. This will have to be fixed first. I have the deck set low to mow where the e net fence goes and need to mow the rest of the uneven yard higher. The manual says you have to raise the deck before turning the knob to adjust the height.. Hopefully it is sae and I have one. I don't have many metric bolts

I chatted with a lot of CL people & set up 4 appointments this weekend. Two went well; chicks were sold; friends were made; everyone happy. One had to cancel due to daughter's health. I understand that & it sounded pretty serious. The last appointment also cancelled, but the reason made me laugh. She's a former customer who wants more, so I knew she was serious. However she forgot about leaving for FL in a few days. Who forgets about a vacation? LOL

I'm still overloaded with chicks. The orps always sell (often right away and sometimes eventually), but if we really, really needed to get the numbers down quickly, we could just eat them. It's the seramas I'm nervous about. Who eats a serama?

I have 3 wild, female seramas running around the backyard , 4 left with my broody silkie, and my broody sebright has another 6 new seramas (less than a week old). That's a lot of "useless chickens"!! Then there's "Micro" = the most useless, but adorable chicken.

@Molpet and @Faraday40 do I need a bigger pop door for when those turkeys get big? I only plan to keep hens around, which are a bit smaller than toms from what I know. However, my pop door is just 8"x10" I think. It works perfectly fine for all the chickens, but how is it too small for an adult turkey hen?

I had eastern wild turkeys for a bit. I dont think my hen would have fit through a 8x10. Maybe if she squeezed really hard, but it would have rubbed or pulled a lot of feathers. Perhaps a midget breed would be ok.
