Illinois...

@BReeder!
Still just the 3 ducklings. Let's wait 'til Monday to see what happens.
I have a fear that I should have put them into the hatcher sooner. They may have been trying to pip when in the incubator at 30% humidity. That means that your current duck eggs may also hatch early. How are those eggs dong?

There is more than one way to play chick tricks :old :gig :confused:
Is there a possibility that the carcass you pulled out was one of these leftover from Easter... that your DW sneaked in:idunno

She knows better. She might find me chewing on all of them to find more peeps.

They have moved to their final home.

Made tractor an open plan so it's easy to change if I want. Still a few tweaks in the works. I don't like only using poultry fencing but it will do for now.

Still debating next year's challenge...... ducks, turkeys, or sustainable meat chicken breed?

Keep in mind that @Molpet 's turkey eggs had a very high fertility rate for me. I set 12 eggs & ended up with 12 turkeys. Then came along a few more to drive up to @chickendreams24.

Keep an eye out for sick coons.
Yesterday About 12:45 I was mowing the bottom and a raccoon came from by the poultry yard right towards me. It stopped and sniffed and turned north, then it started going in circles. I left the mower and when I got back with the pistol it was still going in circles. A yearling female about the same size as the male I got this morning...so this is 13 so far.
Well I guess the raccoons are gone one way or another...no sign of them. :yesss: :ya

Which is a good thing since several turkeys have decided to set again :he

Tell me about it. Once I finally get the boxes free in the garage, two more go. Ive currently got three.🙄
I have 4 turkeys and 4 chickens currently.. and eggs in the Bator just n case LOL

I think I'm crossing duck off my project list. With pond and constant water supply it's more than I want to change. Next year is either turkey, sustainable broiler breed, or both (likely).
