Her fur is starting to thicken nicely. Winter is coming.

I took a lot of pix, but had to sort out those in focus, and correct pose, with no motion.

And it was dinner time for my other pets as well. I think I have about 20 of these cuties around. I need to go to Menards and get another 50 pound bag of BOSS.
These guys probably consume about 80% of that. Chickens and other birds account for the 20%

Are those black squirrels? I've only seen them further north.

@SnootyHen how are the chicks?

A week old today and singing and flapping away! So many wing and tail feathers growing in and the little stinkers have been learning how to kick bedding into their water the last 2 days so I put it up a little higher and now they try to get under it to knock it over. LOL!! Chickens!!

Just took these today:

This one of Millie cracked me up! She is definitely voted most likely to fly out of the brooder first...

For a small fee, and a Kind Thank You, I can deliver a breeding pair to your hood. :old JK:gig:lau
We had the black ones in our area for over 10 years now. Long Long ago, I first seen them at River Trails Nature center in Northbrook.
Not sure if you referred to that as further north, or north of the Cheddar Curtain.

Are any of your hens broody by chance??? That would be a GREAT opportunity to put them to babysitting service:thumbsup

I wish! I still have 3 freeloaders not even laying yet. 🤪 I was thinking that my Leghorn might be a half decent auntie. She's the only one the Marans won't bully and pretty meticulous about what gets to happen in the coop. I also have a really sweet shy Wyandotte but she's already low hen herself so I don't know if she'd be able to manage them.
