Illinois...

My injured bird I put in the garage to separate. I took her out today for surgery and she is covered in bugs. I think ticks. Whatever it is looks different crawling on my arm than it does crawling on her. At least 50 on her. Is there a shampoo i can use? I've never had this problem especially to this extent.

I saw similar products at F&F but didn't read the entire thing. This label makes it clear that it is ok for poultry. F&F has let me down a lot lately, might he time to find different supplier. I looked for sewing kit for the wounded CX but out of stock.
I ended up rinsing the hole with purified water from my eye wash station, spraying with vetricyn pretty good, doing my best to hold closed (skin and area was dry and somewhat hard besides a gap my thumb could fit in), using my staple gun, and crazy glue on top. Time will tell.
I'm not a doctor, I just play one on chickens?

Well now I have a cockerel with bugs.
First time I have had lice eggs around the vent. But I hadn't put out sulfur since fall. I put sulfur all over the coops after I finished with him.
He also had a very crooked keel.

I have never had or seen a tick in my life. 2 years ago I got bit by 3. Last year saw many in my yard. This year full infestation. I wish I could have got a picture of the bugs on my injured CX but soon as I took her into sunlight they hid. Bugs are worse than I ever remember.

That looks like a northern fowl mite to me. If you have to magnify it that much I can't believe it is a tick.
I think the mites are especially bad this year for some reason. They are especially opportunistic on injured or sick chickens, they were covering my Brahma who was pretty ill a short while ago.
