Illinois...

I’ve been super busy with sick babies, an in law visit, and then getting our three year old ready for a procedure tomorrow morning so I had a lot of reading to do to catch up!

We haven’t found a home for the rooster. So maybe he’s just here now 🤷‍♀️ Our little neighbor girl has been begging me to keep him and asked if she could name him tin can 😂 she’s been asking a lot of questions lately through the fence and finally worked up the courage to ask if she could come over to see them. It was fun. She’s 8 and had a lot of questions. Her favorites are the silked white Easter eggers aside from the rooster. The littles aren’t so little any more. 16 weeks tomorrow and integrated well with the old gals. It seemed incredibly smooth actually. I’m still unsure about the lavender orp. It’s pretty darn developed now. The olive egger is starting to color up. But I know that we are getting into the they could be laying soon phase so maybe you guys will have a guess.

I was hoping to get my garden cleaned up and ready to actually use but I’m not sure it will get done this year. We are going to be replacing the deck so maybe just focus on the one project. But I miss having fresh produce with my fresh eggs.

For a really random question any one know of anything to help keep spiders off my coop? Pretty sure it’s impossible but this arachnophob

Enjoyed a bit of time at @Faraday40 place picking up up my ducklings abd bonus poults. It was fun to meet @homeschoolin momma and her children too while I was there. Best of luck with the garden @Faraday40. Here's ours so far this year:

I mentioned I was based to to a turkey breast on the smoker. I thought I would share a pick of that too. Here I deboned it and slice it up. About to heat in a few minutes once the potatoes are finished on the grill.

It was lots of fun all getting together. We really should do an IL BYC gathering this year. It would be fun to have a cookout and need out on chickens.

Moved my chicks from their brooder inside to my pen in the garage. This is the youngest I've ever done this with chicks, I've always whimped out and had them in the house until they were much older. They are almost 4 weeks to the day.
It didn't help knowing that others have done this just fine, I still worried last night and went out first thing this morning to check on them. They're the four of them were playing around like nothing ever happened to them. They sure are cute! And a lot cuter now that they're outside not cluttering up the house :frow
