Wow had to stop watching it it was just too upsetting. Annie came from a Texas hoarder. I hope not that bad. I remember there were some dogs still there from the Tennessee hoarding situation. So sad! I wish those people could be caged.

Guess it's good I was trying to watch on the phone... I couldn't really see much, thought I seen junk and some small dogs... I don't want to know what I missed.

People who can hurt dogs are just the lowest form of disgusting. I wish the punishments were more serious than a stupid fine. 3 of our huskies came from a breeder who was shut down by the authorities when they pulled 68 dogs, some missing ears and legs, underfed, overcrowded and the adults left their young son home alone to deal with the authorities when they got there. Local farmers had been donating carcasses to try and help feed the dogs and there were rotting carcasses in the house. So horrible! We got our first one from them thinking they were an upstanding breeder. They were involved in AKC events and ran the very first all husky Iditarod team. We got the 2nd one from them and she had severe hip dysplasia and when I called to let them know, they recommended putting her down. Instead we found a doggy chiro and she lived to be a cranky old lady. When we got the 3rd, we knew something was wrong because they were weird about the money. By the time we'd picked a pup and they increased the cost we considered backing out but thigs just seemed wrong and I wanted to get her out of there so we paid the increase to take her. I don't know what happened but they obviously went downhill very fast. Shortly after is when they were raided. After hearing about this, I was committed to only rescues from then on.

There is a small house behind me. A bit bigger than a double wide. Before I moved into the neighborhood the lady that lived there had 17 great Danes living there. She kept them in the house and she only let 2 out at a time so nobody would see how many dogs she had.

When I was a kid, parents raised AKC champion line St Bernards. We had 50 adults at one point and sold 100 puppies one Christmas. Shipped a lot to other breeders. Breeders as far as Japan bought puppies. Didn't sell to most pet stores. Didn't trust them.
2 dogs to a 8 x 20 gravel pen with a 4 x 4 dog house. Pens cleaned daily by my brother and when he went to the air Force by me. Had a landfill project with the manure covered by dirt. LOL
Welping pens in the basement.
I remember a couple inspections by health department, no problems.

When I was a kid our neighbor showed and bred Irish Wolfhounds. Loved going over there to walk her dogs. They were her life. She usually had 3-4 dogs (occasionally puppies) I have no idea how she fit them all in her bed. Lol She also only let 2 outside at a time.

She brought me to a few shows. We would camp with the dogs which was always a memorable experience. That’s how I met a close friend whose mom bred Dalmatians. There were also Besenji and pug breeders that would join us. One particular Pug was a spoiled favorite. He slept with me in the kid tent, but I enjoyed the dog more during the day (Pugs make all sorts of odd snores and snorts so restful sleep was out of the question)

I never got into showing. I just enjoyed the dogs, camping, and other kids

Showing dogs, probably anything is a pain. Every weekend going to dog shows. Every Easter I would wake up in the van with an Easter basket. I found I traveled so much as a kid, that when I retired I had no interest in travel.
Also it ended up being lots of politics. The big shows you need a handler, that has an in with the judge. We weren't into that aspect. I seen dogs that didn't meet the standard winning the big shows. Parents started sending me in the ring, cute factor, short chubby 8-14 yr old with a 200 lb stud dog. LOL ..m the Chicago tribune put my picture in for a bench show at the amphitheater.

Probably why my neighbor wanted me to get into it. (& why all the other kids were there - besides animal care) I only went a few times per year and didn’t care about the actual show. I just had fun camping and loved the big wolfhounds. Could never own a horse, so walking them was the next best thing.
