Illinois...

Hey all...
Albion,il here
Anyone go to any auctions close to this area...
Anyone close to this area??
Welcome! There are others who visit this thread from Southern IL I know. A lot of the regulars are in the Chicagoland area, but stick around. Hopefully somebody down your way will chime in about auctions.

Thanks!!
I have some 1yo I'd rather not process if I can help it.... just looking to cull off some of the flock...

Kind of quiet here lately. I'm guessing everyone's busy with gardening, spring clean up, summer prep, and all those many May events. (EX- DD just graduated high school yesterday!)

We've got chicks and continue to hatch. Oldest chicks are 8 weeks. Here's the silkie we kept. I'm thinking (or maybe just hoping) a pullet. Comb is pretty narrow for a silkie and body is petite. The crest has a bit too long in back instead of the tight hen-like hair, but all the other signs look female to me. Does anyone agree or disagree?

Coyotes have been having a buffet here.
At least 2 chicken hens, a tom and 2 turkey hens this spring. Owl got a couple other turkeys.
Sold 5 turkey hens, so I think I have 11 left. Which is more than I need LOL
16 poults with various hens. 3 other hens have a few eggs.
So sorry about the predators. I hope you can get them under control.

For my gardener friends:

Should I be concerned about my tomatoes or be doing something?

My purple Cherokee is tiny but is already bearing fruit (at least trying to).

This paste tomato is also deciding to fruit. Should I pluck to make plant grow bigger or just leave it?
