Illinois...

I used to log into BYC almost daily and post frequently. I’ve been busy/ overbooked for several months now, so just caring for the chickens is somedays the best I can do.

I’ve got a part-time job, a family to care for, and 2 households to feed and clean. Hubby has a disability for a couple years (but still not approved for disability) so that’s just a long process. His mom is on hospice and in a facility nearby. My Dad is 95 and lives in his home in Naperville with my disabled sister. They need daily care - which falls on me. My Dad is now on hospice- but doing well for the most part. My sisters health is declining. It’s a lot!

So although I don’t post daily, I still think of my BYC friends and am thankful for your support. We were introduced via chickens but grew to become friends over the years. When I am near your house / town, I say a little “Hello _____” as I drive by. I just wanted to let you know that I care even though I’m not as present recently.

Of course I will still try to post some cute or funny chicken pics when I have the time to take them.

When it trains it pours. Stay strong. The sun will shine again.

I hope you are doing alright. Don't forget about self-care from time to time, hard as it may be.

I need to get them done... crazy busy with work lately. I started this and then had to get a new blade for the band saw. Now there's for cutouts done and piece of plywood waiting for the remaining four. That's the way it goes though...
I finished doing the cutouts yesterday and the two oldest kids helped me spray paint them all white. Now they have to name all these chickens so I can write the names on the cutouts.

Here's something fun I found. I stumbled upon a collection of something called "cigarette cards." These are chicken themed. Can you guess all the answers?

I think I'm going to lose my rooster to a respiratory illness. Noticed yesterday he was making a bit of a honking sound, then I got a call from my neighbor saying she just lost a hen just something similar. Now I have another hen that's just started up. The rooster appears to be alert but I think much sicker than he's showing.:(
What ever happened @Justso
