I don't feel so bad today. I cleared brush (mostly roses and berry brambles) and forgot to wear gloves. My hands look like meatloaf

Thanks for the sympathy, though. I needed it after that. It was so gross, but as mentioned, PIG POOP would have been way worse

I'm not gonna get a new pair until next year. Until then, I may have to adjust them at Walmart, as suggested

I dont know if I'd go so far as to call you a dolt (although I DO like the choice of words). We all make dumb mistakes, after all.

You might want to try hanging your waterers after this, if you haven't already. Keeps things neat. Hang them by a adjusting cleat and suspend them at the same height as the birds back. Another option is to water them outside, say, just out the coop door.

Or put in what some call a creep feeder, otherwise known as a proteced water pan. Heres an example:

You could do the same with welded wire big enough for their head to fit through. Make the pan accessible from the outside.

Thanks for the encouragement on the weight loss. I still have some to go, but it feels pretty good not tiring out so quickly (more energy for me to do stupid things)
