I'm addicted. Seriously.

I think that I am going to need all the support I can get. I am finishing the rest of my coop/duck run/chicken run this weekend, and I am already looking to get goslings....I need theraoy. Hmmm.....perhaps chocolate will do. The huge pack of sweettarts I just ate aren't really changing my mind any either.

Well move over and get more chocolate and I will come straight to you...I have been sitting here driving husband CRAZY for two hours...floating between MPC and MMH websites debating my new chick order...

DH got fed up and said "I am going to bed...just order 2 of everything and stop torturing me with .... come look at this one....isn't it cute"

I think I have it narrowed down to 17 total chicks now. Well at least until I wake up tomorrow. I think I will talk to my 6 girls and see what they think...I already promised my chicken stalker/parrot/SLW that I would not get another SLW.

Well, at least I am not the only one. I work 3rd shift so I really have nothing to do, and that is turning out to be a bad thing....I was on MMH earlier debating on whether or not I NEED to order a minimum of 10 ducks/goslings. If I did, would the 8x10 pen be too small for them? Oh dear, its worse than I thought!

I really need a life too....but thats a whole different topic, besides the fact that I haven't seen my BF in 4 days. AND WE LIVE TOGETHER!! :o Oh well. At least I have my chickens, right?

I have serious issues too- I am not even allowed to own chickens where I live. I started out this year going to just hatch out some button quail...easy to hide them. Then my brother in laws flock was killed and he asked me to hatch for him. From that point on, there was no stopping myself.
Now I have my little coop- my house chicken, four chicks, and many eggs staggered or on the way here...I am so bad that I posted my frustrations with shipped eggs and buying unseen on eBay...hit the "post" button...took a deep breath...and scanned eBay and saw Show girls eggs and clicked 'buy it now'.

I have some very sad issues going on in my life right now- found out my dad and my stepmom both have cancer, step mom is declining fast and I live 650 miles away from them. The hatching is my therapy. Or, maybe the egg ordering is my therapy. I dunno- whichever, the eggs are keeping my mind occupied- where as my regular chores, pets, kids, and working full time were unable to help keep my thoughts focused.

Oh, and I will give my brother in law his chicks. Soon as I am done hatching everything and pick out the few that I want.

I have Carmen, the house chicken( who needs a buddy so she can move outside)...and I wanted an Australorp so I ordered those eggs, I wanted an Easter Egger so I ordered those eggs, and the same with the Silkies and the Show Girls...never did get the buff orps that I considered...

That's funny!

I guess it's a good thing that our farm supply stores only get chicks in for a couple weeks each spring! Oh yeah! I forgot! That won't matter here anymore, because I'm getting a bator!!! It will be like spring here all of the time! Shhhhh.

Don't tell my DH!

"Mom 2 em all" is right. There is something therapeutic about caring for baby creatures. It is a gift to be able to have peace in a moment in time, to be able to be there for some other being. I feel that this world can be so darned fast-paced. There seems to be this expectation to do all sorts of superficial things and keep up on current events. Everyone talks about stuff on T.V. like it matters, as if "Dancing with the Stars" matters!
(Chickens matter - ha!)
I have only been visiting this forum for a short time, but it has been great to connect & share with other people who value family and home. If chickens are an "addiction" and if I am "hooked on" BYC, please: I don't want an intervention!

I just finished a PM about how i was so upset about loosing a few and how I was instantly helped by going to the feed store and picking up MORE.. I did however get six to replace the two that were lost... humm that seems to be fuzzy math..

I am using the kid as the excuse for the bator...and got him to agree.

The kid wants to hatch her own babies...great learning experience so say I to DH...and he says OKAY.

So..your secret is safe with me!
