I'M ADDICTED

Really! Ours was like when she was broody, but she came when called and loved to be held when she wasn't. People say it all depends on breed, kinda but it usually depends on the bird. our friend has the kindest RIR roo and has the meanest buff orpington hen! opposites of the stereo type people have given them.
It’s so true! Cuz I know that whatever I read about Silkies it’s always how friendly they are! Oh, and that’s right.. my BO is the same exact as my Silkie.. go figure ... and those are my two broodies ...

I am definitely learning that very quickly. I have never been one to fall for stereotypes though sometimes I really do hope some of them are true. At least the good ones LOL. Of the chicks we have, in the 4 RIRs there is one lover, one curious but skittish and 2 ornary ones. The 2 brahmas are tolerant. Neither overly friendly or overly stand-offish. The 3 BSSs are completely aloof all the time unless you try to grab one then they quickly move away. Otherwise you wouldn't even know they were there they just go about their day like La Di Da. Mind you, they are all only a month old so who knows from here. My lil leghorn cockerel is my other lovie if you can believe.

This is why I am sooooo pleased that you cannot buy chicks in stores over here in the UK....you have to go to breeders. If I went into a store to get feed and there were chicks on sale all the time, I'd be divorced by now!! :lau:lau:lau
I am lucky...my man is an animal freak haha. He definitely prefers animals to people LOL. Now see, if I went to a breeder...I would probably have to take out a loan and rent a semi to get home

I got a chick yesterday with a minor splayed leg problem and he/she is a barred rock cross I think. And he's so sweet and outgoing for being disabled. I've only met 1 kind RIR and that was a roo. Good luck with your flock!

I LOVE my RIR! She is a lovely and very fair leader of the flock! And she likes me just as much as I like her :D
