I'm so happy to hear Sunshine sounding a bit better!

I don't know anything about chickens, but do you have a garage you can fix up for Sunshine to stay in at night or in the cold til her feathers grow back? I read here at BYC that hens don't like to be out of sight of each other, so maybe keeping Faith and Sunshine together in the garage with a heater for when it gets cold? They sell heaters that are flat panels that radiate heat but don't burn you if you touch them. Maybe a "How Do I Winter a Naked Chicken" would find good answers in the flock management thread...

I'd suggest a sweater, but I'm guessing other chickens might peck at it and at Sunshine.
And ... what if she doesn't like your fashion sense?

I think it's amazing how much good it can do to take an animal out of a stressful environment, give it warmth, quiet, comfort, good food and meds... it gives their systems time to heal by sleeping and resting.

Well the two EE's are doing fine, no more crazy scratching and frantic grooming (dry skin and lice!).

Little Faith is still naked but it will take weeks for feathers to grow in so I'm not expecting miracles.

Sunshine's eyes are good as new - will have to dust her for lice again as I'm afraid the nits on her head might hatch

Oh, she's gonna loooove me...

Now the two cochins are also in the same crate, in the house, because one of them developed an infected eye... I think it might have gotten pecked?? I'm not sure it's getting any better after almost 3 days of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops, will have to be patient with that too.

Otherwise she is fine, eating and drinking and peeping with the rest of 'em!

Does it ever get any easier?

I'm on dialup, so everything computer-related is SLOOOOOOW for me. I'm not the fastest at keeping up with the threads here but I'm so glad to hear Sunshine's doing better. I hope your little cochin girls are doing better, too.

Oh gosh, hope the long downloads are worth it - you're so patient, LOL!

The Hen Hospital will close in a day or two, I think they'll be well enough to return to the coop by then.

The cochin's eye is getting better, it's not great but she will get meds for a few more days.

Little naked EE will have to grow feathers asap and cuddle with the 3 other girls for warmth, she's healthy otherwise - just hope she doesn't get cold and get sick... I do have a heat lamp set up for them for night-time.

So much drama over a few little birds

But oh, how we love them...
