I'm completely clueless... I could use help with my baby pullet

You can just snap a pic of it in the box, or a few, the more pics you post the more responses you will probably get. We're a bit pic crazy on here

Sounds like you're doing fine. Getting the temp right can be tricky, but it sounds like you have figured out how to tell what it needs. And that should be plenty of room for one or two.

The early signs of a comb are very different from breed to breed, so the bump may be normal pullet (female) development for this breed.

Is the water getting dirty so often because it is kicking litter into it? You could put the waterer on a paper plate or something similar, which would help a little. In a few days you should be able to set it up on a brick or board or something.

Yeah it's on the ground, so it kicks food and it tends to walk and poop in it. So I change it VERY often. I'll try to put it up on something so it'll be harder to kick stuff into, but it can still reach it.

I have a few poor quality pics I'll put up shortly.

Thanks!

Well... sad/happy news.

After I had to get a job, I decided to give my chick to a man who lives close by who raises chickens and ducks. I'm sure she's much happier now, with other chicks to run around with.

It's hard to let go, since I really wanted to be able to provide a good home for her, but I had to know when I wasn't able to do the right thing by her and I had to find someone who could.

Thanks everyone, for all your help!
