I'm concerned and heavily sighing - some advice? (esp from 'outlaws')

HEChicken, I totally agree. I find eating meat that is raised and killed humanely 100% acceptable. However, I have been vegetarian since I was 14 and after all these years I simply don't see meat as food anymore. I'm very healthy and see no need to reteach myself to eat animals just because I can raise birds in my yard. Any animals in my care are my pets - to me they are simply not food even though I have nothing against those who do eat meat.

I have actually discussed the issue of extra males with a friend whose family I have known most of my life and trust completely. She would be willing to take a few for meat and would ensure they were killed humanely. I can deal with this in that case - I simply would have no reason to want to kill and eat them myself. My parents and one sibling gave up meat several years after I did so no one in my family would have any use for it. I would never sell an animal that was potentially food to someone I don't know very well either and think what you do is perfectly reasonable and certainly the lesser of evils by far
