im crying...droped egg while candeling it..

That is why I stopped using a tube for candling. Now I use a really strong light and just cup my hands allowing no light to get out. on the really dark ones, I just look for veining around the air sac. shining the light through the air sac. hope this helps. and

WOW! Thank you everyone for helping me feel a little better..
I really didnt sleep well last night. Crazy I know to be this upset over a chicken egg BUT I just couldnt get the image out of my head.
My little silkie is doing a great job and I hope the other two will hatch. I will let you know if I candle the remaining two eggs.

I dont think my silkie would like to be in the house.. lol I guess I could take a pillow out to the coop with me ! My neighbors already think Im the crazy chicken lady so Im sure if they saw me heading out with a pillow they would assume I was sleeping out there now!

OK I made a new box to candle the 2 eggs she is still sitting on. What should I look for? The eggs are really blue, Id say on the darker blue side so Im sure I wont see much. should I just look for the air sack ? Still not sure I want to try it again

I've been sweating bullets every time I've candled. I get one of those in my hand and I feel like FumbleFingers all of a sudden. I already noticed I've got the dropsies today (up late last night putting a set of massive wooden bunk beds together and my hands are sore) so there's no way I'm touching my eggs.

I can say from personal experience... that we have all done something at one time or another... and yes, it is heart breaking. I don't like to think about the mistakes I have made (and will try to never make again)... but it seems we all have to learn somehow. I opened an egg once that I thought was a dud... I was so wrong and there was nothing I could do... I cried for 3 days and felt like a horrible person. (Still bothers me... just breaks my heart that I caused its death.)

Only thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and try real hard to never repeat them.

I'm so sad right now.my little tiny silkie broodie has been sitting on 3 EE eggs for 10 days now.so I thought id candle tme to see how things were going..oh my gosh.....I droped one thru the tube I was using to candle it and it cracked open...oh my gosh..I'm so upset my first ever baby and I killed it....I'm not sure if the other two will hatch.with my luck they won't.. the blue egg is really hard to see inside of ...lesson's the hard way are no fun....I feel so bad :0(

I have cracked an egg by accidently dropping onto another egg while putting it back into the incubator after candeling, it happens, my cracked egg did hatched..
