I am in the market for a new tabletop incubator, to use as a hatcher. I use a Sportsman to incubate in, but prefer a tabletop type to hatch in. Which would you prefer, or what is your experience with these?

RCom 20 priced at $479. on sale for $389.
RCom King Suro 20 priced at $459 on sale for $299. (til the end of this week only)
Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced priced at $479 on sale ??

I use my hova-bator 1602N as a hatcher/lockdown.
After incubate eggs in R-com suro, I will move them to hova-bator for lockdown, because it is bigger and chicks have plenty of space after hatching.
I thought R-com or Brinsea would be too crowded to hatch 24 eggs.

Just bought a King Suro. Had a terrific hatch (easy as pie, 15 of 17 hatched) of duck eggs, and now have started a batch of Buff Orpingtons.

The incubator is truly "set and forget" (we left on vacation for a week in the middle of the incubation, and everything stayed rock solid).

It is a bit crowded during the hatch-- we opened it a few times during the hatch to remove ducklings as it got too packed in there. Temperature and humidity returned to set levels almost instantaneously, and as I said, it obviously didn't hurt the hatch.

I'm very happy with my Suro so far.

Oh, thank you for that link. Decisions, decisions!

I'm just beginning my first hatch in my King Suro. The thing has been absolutely rock solid plug and play for the entire incubation. Today is day 18 and I unplugged the turner and turned up the humidity this morning. When I got home from work I had an early chick!!

I can highly recommend it so far. BTW...I got mine for $229 on sale from Kemp's Koops online...plus $40 shipping (yeah....they're a little high on shipping)

I've also used the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced EX and had a terrible hatch. It was borrowed from a friend and I think the calibration for temp was off and the actual temp was about 3 degrees lower than it was reading. There is a way to calibrate them. I know that it is a great incubator. The King Suro is designed exactly like the Brinsea for about 1/2 the cost.

Thanks for the info! I knew when it (Suro) was on sale for $229 (or $249?) that I should have jumped on it! Now I was told it is on sale for $299 only til the end of the week. I had better get that order in!

ETA: I found the feedback on Kemps Koops not to be so good .... maybe I should pass on that.

Don't waste your money on those $300 to $400 dollar + incubators. They hardly hold any eggs! I have the Hova Bator Genesis 1588. It works great!

It has a preset electronic thermostat, a large picture window, a fan, and best of all it holds 50 eggs without the turner and 42 with. It is only $130 and it's just as good as a Brinsea in my opinion. I would highly recommend the Genesis 1588!
