Well I went in, and took the "entrance exam". Honestly, I was little disappointed with it
I thought it would be harder lol. But I passed and I got my letter of acceptance into the program. And then I asked the price of the course.....
$12,000 They said it like it was nothing, too! My eyes about popped out of head! BUT They have a 76% graduation rate, and of that 80% retention rate. So those numbers do look nice, although I'm still in shock a little bit..
They also have a really good internship program, pretty much anywhere on the island you want to go, they can put you there. So I'm really hoping to impress the pants off of them and hopefully get offered a job, or at least have really good standing when applying..
I talked to hubs about it, and if I get funding for it, he says go for it, even though this means I won't get to visit him anywhere while they are on deployment.. I really wanted to go to Saipan. But Saipan can wait I suppose. Especially if it means education/job opportunities, and then heck, we can just go home next year for Thanks or Christmas
So I have $4,000 already to put towards this program. I have an appointment on Tuesday to see the financial aid officer. I was kind of excited when they said they were still using W-4's from 2009 because taxes have not been filed yet this year. I put in the numbers for FAFSA from hubby's job for 2010 and they said I was not eligible for a Pell Grant, however, if they are using numbers from 2009 I only worked 8 months that year, and my income was considerably less than what hubs makes now. So I am hoping if they re-do it, I will qualify. So $8,000 to go, and then books are about $400, and then scrubs and everything else is about $100.....
I've never been to real school and so these numbers are just blowing my mind. I've done vocational school back home in Nevada, but everything is waaaaay cheaper in Nevada..
So wish me luck (again) I really do think this sounds like an awesome program, and I would hope to get a job at the big Army hospital (Tripler) up the hill. It's close, and it's federal, and that means it will be easier to transfer when we move again..
I'll let ya'll know how my financial aid search turns out, and if I'm able to take it
And then of course how the class is progressing as it goes along for anyone who is interested. Glad things are starting to look up for me
