The only think that I'm not seeing from your pictures is an access door to collect the eggs. If the laying boxes are on the opposite side away from the door, how are you going to get to the eggs? Is the roof hinged?

I built my with heavy duty shipping box as well. It's very cheap & durable because of 3/4" plywood and 2' off ground. I'll add some plants and few perch this spring.
