I thought about candling them but was trying to avoid opening the incubator and shrink wrapping them. I checked them all before lockdown and they looked good to go.

Although I am no expert I was told you cannot shrink wrap them until the pip the outside of the shell... If your very worried about it, throw a blanket over you and the incubator and have some warm water there to mist them... I have had countless chicks die before piping and I am always concerned when I see all that movement right on time (day 18-19) and then nothing...I thought about candling them but was trying to avoid opening the incubator and shrink wrapping them. I checked them all before lockdown and they looked good to go.
Thankyou. I never knew the shrink wrap wasn't till after the pip. I haven't seen movement in 2 days now. Fingers crossed still. I'll trying candling them again. What will I be looking for at this point? Veining? Movement?
Thankyou for your help. I candled one and no movement but I saw a little veining. I'll sit tight and TRY to be patient. On the internal pip, is that the beak going through the membrane into the air sac??
Hope your chicks make it outThankyou for your help. I candled one and no movement but I saw a little veining. I'll sit tight and TRY to be patient. On the internal pip, is that the beak going through the membrane into the air sac??
Thanks for the pictures!!!! helps to know what we are looking at for us non-experienced candlers...LOL!!!Yes, that's what an internal pip looks like, that was my last hatch some 4 months ago.. Its a long story with lots of pictures![]()
Hope your chicks make it outI have had them hatch at day 22-23 because of temp being a little low at times. Your eggs were shipped...did you let them settle before putting them in the bator? If yes, don't count resting days...also when I put them in the bator, that is day zero...not one. Just trying to think of reason's I know for delays![]()
