I'm getting the itch. Anyone want to hatch some eggs?

Hey guys! Getting close to lockdown! If I set the eggs Saturday 1st July, should I candle and lockdown tonight or tomorrow night? (do I count day 1 as the first 24 hrs past basically) happy hatching all! xx

According to this article: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-incubate-hatch-eggs-just-21-days-from-egg-to-chicken, you would count the day one as the 1st 24 hrs after they were set in the incubator. I'm confused, though, because my calendar says the 1st of July was a Tuesday. Did you set them in Tuesday, July 1st, or the Saturday before that?

Hey, sorry yes I meant the 28th June, too many scribblings in the diary! So by that logic, lockdown would begin tomorrow night, 18 full days!? off to get some anti-slip matting for any little feet tonight then! It's my first hatch, with a new slide type incubator so being realistic as anything and nothing could happen! But learned a lot for my next batch! Fingers crossed though!

I'm counting today as the 18th day from June 28th. I've never hatched eggs before, but am trying to learn as much as possible before I set my eggs I'm expecting this weekend. Will an expert please chime in to tell us if I'm correct, that today should be the 18 day lockdown?

I usually count the day I set them as day 1. This time I put them in in the evening on the 14th, so I expect them to hatch on the 3rd and into the 4th.

I am so happy!!! My coworker, Nick, wired all of my incubator components today & so far everything is running smoothly. I just finished adding vent holes, humidity tray, 2 thermo/hygrometers, heat sinks & glass viewing pane ala duct tape. Now just waiting for stabilization. I never would have been able to figure it out with the seller's instructions. Thank God for mechanics in my workplace!

Just got done candling and pitching everything that was clear or early quitters. I have 11 red dorkings left that are going strong and looking good! Yay! Now just waiting until the 28th to candle again and lockdown. If I can stay out of it that long that is...
