I'm getting the itch. Anyone want to hatch some eggs?

My eggs are here!!!!!

Letting them settle from the ride through the mail and hopefully will be putting them under my broody by Monday!!!!

Just got done candling and pitching everything that was clear or early quitters. I have 11 red dorkings left that are going strong and looking good! Yay! Now just waiting until the 28th to candle again and lockdown. If I can stay out of it that long that is...

So you had 6 red dorkings that had to go? Did you have to toss all the bielefelders? Did you keep any of the barnyard mixes that were in your control group?

I got the mail this morning that my eggs have shipped....I hope they get here tomorrow instead of Monday

Are you going to candle before putting them under the broody?
Yes, I am letting them settle 2 more days from the trip. Then I will candle and see how the air cells look. First time I have worked with shipped eggs so it is a learning process for me

Right now my broody is sitting on her own infertile eggs until these are ready. It will be her firsttime hatching also...learning experience for us all!!

Yes, 2 of the dorkings were clear 4 more had blood rings. The bielefelder were all clear. I did not keep any of the mixes, the more I thought about it the more I wished I hadn't set them because I could not tell the sex of my last hatch until around 6 months when they started to crow and get noticeable spurs.

I hope your eggs come in tomorrow!
