I'm workin on a new pen for them today, we have alot of trees so hawks aren't much of a problem. Coyotes do not come up that close to the house, Equines keep them at bay. So up till yesterday never had a problem. I will have an electrified fence up to keep the dogs out. Anybody ever use that electric poultry netting?

i draw the line from survey post to survey post, have a electric fence around the entire property and the fence is the warning, and shoot shovel and shut up.

Its not the dog's fault--it doesn't deserve to die for for just being a dog. The owner however, should be shot--twice.

Once for irresponsibility for the dog and second for what happened to your poor birds.

Sorry, but I will not tolerate that behavior from a dog either...especially someone else's nope doggie would be shot here too.

I agree yet I personally couldn't shoot the dog with bullets. I'd go for a paint ball gun and when the dog got home (if it has one) someone, hopefully the owner, might realize the next time the dog may not come back. The sad thing is that dog will most likely come back as he has only experienced positive feedback for his deadly escapade--a chicken dinner. If the dog rececives negative feedback (non lethal) he has more to consider and therefore is at least given a chance to live and learn. In my humble opinion the fault actually lies on both animal keepers and not the dog or the birds. The birds were not properly protected by a fence (any predator could've come and killed them) but at least they were on the OP's property--the dog obviously wasn't where he belonged.
