1. My internet went out for a few hours right in the middle of prepping for work tomorrow. Lost HOURS of work....
2. Today is 2nd dose for treating my chickens for mites. Couldn't find my dropper. Had to go to drug store for a new one. Drug store was closed. Had to go to next town over.
3. Came home. Found my cat had stolen my original dropper and was playing with it in the bathroom.
4. Went out to the coop wearing my hat with a built-in light. I go to get dose for first chicken. Light goes out. Climb back up hill to my house. Got flashlight from house.
5. Go back to dose chickens. Rooster wakes up and is disoriented. He tries to flog me. Got him calmed down after a few frantic minutes. He's still crowing as I type...
6. Get first hen for mite treatment. Realize I don't have my glasses on. Got knocked off while wrestling with rooster. They are on the ground somewhere. Finally find them. Put them knowing they probably landed in some big ol' broody poop.
7. Get chickens dosed, but not before my big broody Brahma pecks the heck out of my hand/arm. Not her fault. She's crazy hormonal right now.
8. Grab hen I treated for bumblefoot a few days ago for a trip to the house for a cleaning and a new bandage.
9. Get her foot taken care of. See that her other foot, the one I just finished treating last week, is looking swollen and red. There's no scab. Infection looks deep. Decide to treat with antibiotics vet gave me if her foot didn't clear up last time.
10. Get antibiotics down chicken's throat. Cat suddenly runs under my feet, spooks chicken. Chicken starts flapping and spills ENTIRE bottle of antibiotics on the floor. She also knocks over the chicken first aid kit. Stuff goes flying.
11. Finally get chicken restrained and calm. Get her back out to coop. Step on egg I didn't see earlier. Rooster still crowing. Now ducks are upset and start running in circles, quacking and flapping. Entire flock is now set off. Birds are running out of the coop into the yard. It's after midnight. All bad.
12. Get birds put away again (rooster still crowing).
13. Climb back up the hill to the house. See that there is now a hole torn in my t-shirt, and I have a big scratch on my stomach.
14. Get myself cleaned up, the antibiotics wiped up, and the chicken first aid kit set to rights.
15. It's now 1:15 am. I have to get up for work in less than 4 hours. I'm in my PJs, and I realize I left the stuff for treating mites in the coop.
