We kept that last one my boyfriend fell in love with him and he named him Oso that means bear in Spanish he looked sad there but he is much better now when I found them they were very anemic from fleas and ticks but now he has energy and is playful I'm sure in a few more days he will feel even better as he recovers . . I spent hours picking every last bug off him my neck hurts really bad lol

I lost 5 chicks in total to heat and humidity issues one was the day 3 egg had a blood ring and the other 4 were cause of shrink wrapping I fixed the humidity issue though took some work ... I know I should be happy that my hatch rate is rather high cause so far I have 15 babies and 14 more live eggs to go .. but I wished the others had made it ... they were beautiful. . I blow dried one to see its color because the color was to me a big shock they dad u saw he was white with a few black spots and yellowish more off white back feathers and the mother is brown now the one pictured before but in the pic of the father there is a hen in the back that's the mother this was the baby I had 2 just like this both died and I cried like a baby even the feet were black ... I was so so so upset aren't they beautiful . .. I have 7 more eggs from that pair I'm hoping no more die and I get more like these

I have those 14 eggs still going one has pipped internally so yay but my deck daisy went broody again and I was thinking about giving her the eggs laid from the last 3 days ..I feel she is better suited to hatch them but I am also scared to loose them cause those beautiful black babies I could give her only the light eggs and see how it goes but idk I trust her she is a good momma like peaches but I worry what do u guys think

She has been here all morning she started today I have seen her be broody before she is a very dedicated mom but should I risk it?

I would give your broody eggs if you feel she is dedicated! I always like my broodies to hatch if they want, because it is a natural part of their life cycle and I love giving them that experience. So for me, its more about letting my broody have the joy of hatching and caring for chicks, rather than the outcome of the hatch and gaining chicks for my flock:) You just have to do what you feel is best! Puppies are ADORABLE!!! I would have kept one too:oops: And bless your heart for helping them!!!!

And I also feel sad for the chicks that don't make it...I think it is natural! After all you have cared for these eggs for 3 weeks so a lot of time and hope invested! But it is a part of hatching!

Omg if I let my broodies hatch, I would be over run!! Lol I hate having broodies, yet I am "blessed" with an abundance. Not even adding my silkies in the mix, I constantly have 2-4 broodies in my standard coop. Apparently Spitzhaubens are pretty broody, at least all mine are...lol and my mixes take turns. My silkies are constant, but that's expected.
